Considered by many as the ultimate 4×4 vehicle, it includes bespoke styling, an exemplary interior finish and a 5.0 litre super charged V8 engine. Exclusivity is a priority with a vehicle of this calibre, so only a limited number will be made and each will be sold with a price tag of £150,000.
For the majority of the population, the SV Autobiography will be beyond our budget, but if you are interested in 4×4 vehicles there are plenty of other excellent models on the market. What’s more Land Rover has announced that they plan to launch a new or heavily revised version of their models every year, with a greater focus on leisure and luxury.
At present you can enjoy the perfect combination of performance and refined luxury with vehicles including the Supercharged Range Rover Sport, which also features a 5 litre V* engine, the prestige of the Range Rover Sport with its panoramic sun roof, the 7-seater Range Rover Evoque and the new Freelander.
Even models such as the Defender are getting a revamp in the coming year. The Defender has always been the most utilitarian of models, suited to off road, rugged terrains; a real work horse in the 4×4 family. Although functionality and off road driveability remain a priority, the new range of Defenders will combine this off road ability with greater comfort and style. The new range which will go into production in mid-2016 will be made in a range of body styles to add appeal to a wider spectrum of buyer.
A Great Choice for Drivers
Although initially designed as practical modes of transport on farms and extreme terrain, 4×4 vehicles have shown their worth in a wide variety of settings. Their ground clearance and ability to perform in a range of conditions has made them invaluable for people living and working in remote communities yet, their style and space has made them the ideal solution for transporting business guests in comfort on perfectly tarmacked city roads.
The extensive boot space and flexible seating arrangements have made 4×4 vehicles the ideal choice for families. They also offer a practical solution for safely towing boats, caravans, horse boxes and trailers, which has attracted the attention of the leisure market. It is now just as likely to spot a 4×4 vehicle on urban streets as it is on rural lanes and at least one of your neighbours is likely to have one sat on their drive.
As the design of 4×4 vehicles evolve to include more high specification features, greater luxury and improved fuel efficiency, without compromise on power and driveability, the appeal of these vehicles will continue to grow. However, with new versions regularly coming onto the market, it is difficult to know the right time to commit to making a purchase.
If you simply need a suitable vehicle to transport your international business colleagues in comfort, a family adventure holiday or to tow your boat down to the water in spring and back out for over wintering, 4×4 hire might be a better option. You can then simply have the benefits of a 4×4 vehicle as and when you need it.
