Putting Your Stamp on Your Wedding Day

Putting Your Stamp on Your Wedding Day

There are certain times in your life when the majority of your peers are engaging in the same activities. A time when everyone is graduating, a time when everyone seems to be jetting off on a distant travelling adventure and a year or two when everyone seems to be getting engaged and planning their wedding day.

The feeling of becoming an intrepid explorer of unknown lands can be slightly diminished when a good number of your associates are also jetting to the same destination. South East Asia and Australia certainly have plenty of amazing experiences on offer, but it can take a more unusual country to stand out from the crowd.

The same applies when you hit the wedding season. If you are following tradition or the trend of that year, one wedding can blend into another. You start to hear the same pieces of music and lines in the best man’s speech, see the same style dresses and vintage cars and one wedding cake tastes much like another.

The way to make your day memorable is to really consider your priorities; what do you want in order to celebrate your love and enjoy a great day with your friends and family? Then, with each item on your priority list, you can consider what options best reflect your personality. By selecting things that are all about you, there is plenty of scope for a stylish wedding that has a unique character.

The Dress

In Europe a white wedding dress is traditional, but if white isn’t your style, there is no reason why you couldn’t get married in any colour dress. Indian wedding dresses are traditionally red, so you may prefer to seek inspiration from that tradition. As many people look at celebrity weddings for ideas, you might like to look at the subtle baby pink Chanel dress that Kiera Knightly wore when she married James Righton, or the black wedding dress worn by Sarah Jessica Parker when she married Matthew Broderick.

Wedding Venues

If you plan to tie the knot in the UK, you aren’t restricted to a church, hotel or registry office. There are many unusual venues available for weddings. Maybe you are more suited to the Treehouse in Alnwick Gardens in Northumberland, Cley Windmill in Norfolk, HMS Alliance, a submarine in Hampshire or a whisky vault in Edinburgh? All of these are registered UK wedding venues, along with plenty of other places of interest.

Wedding Car Hire

Arriving and leaving your wedding venue in style is another key feature of many weddings. Whilst vintage cars are a popular choice, there are plenty of other options which might better reflect your personalities.

Wedding car hire could include a VW Campervan, which is the ideal choice for a beach or festival style event. You might want all of the guests to join you on a double decker bus or another heritage vehicle. Maybe you want the space and comfort of a 4×4 vehicle  in keeping with a rural wedding or a remote Scottish castle. Alternatively a London or New York cab could put your mark on the bid day.

Catering for Guests

Hog roasts, pizza ovens and vintage tea parties are all gaining in popularity and adding something a little different to the wedding buffet or formal sit down meal. Alternatively, you could hire ice cream vans, Mexican street food caterers or a fish and chip van to feed your guests.

Even when money is no object, the happy couple often opt for tried and tested favourites. When Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan married, they picked their two favourite restaurants to provide the food, whilst at Angelina and brad’s wedding, their son Pax took responsibility for baking the cake. Whose cooking do you love to devour? Could they be the ideal caterers for your big day?

Wedding Theme

Some couples base their wedding on a theme that has a personal meaning to them. This instantly adds character to the day. A themed wedding doesn’t need to look like a crazy fancy dress party; subtle and stylish references to the theme provide a unified look, without the risk of edging towards a Katie Price pink princess wedding which even included a pumpkin chariot for transport.

No matter what you opt for, a unique event will result from sticking to what matters to you, rather than what others expect of a wedding celebration. By putting your stamp on your big day, you’ll be sure to have plenty of delightful memories to carry into married life.
